What is WeditVideo and how does it work?

WeditVideo lets you hand-pick a small group of trusted guests to capture footage at your wedding and wedding journey events — straight from their phones. You create an event, invite your guests, and send them a personalized link. On the day they tap their link, a camera opens in their phone browser, and they start recording. Everything lands in your dashboard organized by guest and moment — ready to watch, download, and share. Nothing to download. Nothing to install. Ever.

How does WeditVideo relate to Wedit?

WeditVideo is made by the same team that created Wedit — the original DIY wedding film app that launched in 2013. Wedit pioneered the idea of capturing weddings entirely on guests' phones, starting with an iPod Touch. WeditVideo is the next evolution: rebuilt for any modern smartphone, no app install required, and designed for every event in your wedding journey. If you've used Wedit before, WeditVideo will feel instantly familiar — just faster, simpler, and available to any guest who gets a link.

Is WeditVideo a replacement for a wedding videographer?

For many couples — yes. WeditVideo gives you real footage from multiple trusted perspectives at a fraction of the cost of professional video coverage. For couples who do have a videographer, WeditVideo captures everything they miss — the bridal suite, the candid reactions across the room, the speeches from inside the tables. Whether you have a videographer or not, WeditVideo gives you footage that a single camera could never capture.

What kind of footage will I get?

Real, unfiltered clips from the people who were actually there and who actually love you. Your maid of honor's view of you walking down the aisle. Your dad's face in the moment you arrive. When during our wedding journey can we use WeditVideo?

Any time. WeditVideo works for your engagement party, bridal shower, bachelorette party, bachelor party, rehearsal dinner, wedding day, and day-after brunch. Add each event to your account as you go. One account covers your whole journey.

Do my guests need to download anything?

No. Nothing. Ever. WeditVideo runs entirely in the phone browser. Guests tap their personalized invite link and the camera opens. No App Store. No Google Play. No account. No passwords. If they can open an email and tap a link they can be on your capture team.

What happens when a guest taps their link?

A quick tips screen appears first — simple things like hold your phone sideways, get close to the action, short clips work best, and no signal is no problem. Then the camera opens and they're ready to record. The whole thing takes about 30 seconds from tap to recording.

What recording options do guests have?

Quite a few — and none of them require any technical knowledge. Guests can record short clips up to 60 seconds or long clips up to 10 minutes. They can flip between front and back camera, pinch to zoom, use torch on Android, and record in landscape mode with controls that move to the sidebar. A 3-2-1 countdown gives them a moment to get ready before each clip starts. After recording they can review all their clips in a gallery before uploading.

What if there is no wifi or signal at our venue?

Not a problem. Clips save directly to the guest's phone if there is no connection. The moment they reconnect to any network — venue wifi, cellular data, or wifi back at the hotel — everything uploads automatically to your dashboard. No clips are ever lost because of poor signal.

What if a guest is invited to more than one of our events?

If a guest is invited to multiple events — say the rehearsal dinner and the wedding — opening their home screen shortcut shows a simple event picker. A "Today" badge highlights which event is happening now so there's no confusion. Perfect for wedding weekends.

How many guests can be on our capture team?

3, 5, or 7 depending on your plan. We recommend choosing people who will be in different parts of the venue throughout the day and who you know will be engaged and present.

Can guests see each other's clips?

No. Each guest's invite link only gives them access to their own recording experience. They can review their own clips in their gallery. They cannot see what anyone else has captured. Only you can see all the footage in your dashboard.

Can guests share their clips?

Yes — from their guest gallery, guests can share individual clips via the native share sheet on their phone — iMessage, WhatsApp, email, or a copied link. A temporary 48-hour public link is generated per clip. If they want to post directly to Instagram or TikTok, downloading the clip first gives the best quality.

When do I get access to the clips?

The moment a guest's clip uploads it appears in your dashboard. You don't have to wait until after the wedding. You can watch clips arrive in real time during your reception — or check in the next morning and find everything waiting for you.

How are clips organized?

By guest and by moment. When you set up your event you can suggest moments you'd like captured — ceremony, first dance, speeches, reception. Guests can tag their clips as they record. In your dashboard you can filter by any guest, any role label, or any moment — or browse everything together.

How do I share clips from the dashboard?

Tap the share button on any clip and a native share sheet opens — iMessage, WhatsApp, email, or copy a link. Each shared clip gets a temporary 48-hour public link. For the best quality when posting to Instagram or TikTok, download the clip first.

How long are my clips stored?

30 days after your event closes on all plans. You will receive reminder emails before your clips expire so you have plenty of time to download everything. Download everything to your own device and keep it forever — the 30-day window just means we store it on our servers for that period.

How do I download everything?

Download individual clips directly from your dashboard or grab everything at once as a ZIP file in one click — organized by guest and moment.

Who can see our footage?

Only you and anyone you explicitly give access to. Guests can record and upload — they cannot browse or view anyone else's footage. Your dashboard is protected by your account login.

What happens to our footage after 30 days?

Clips are permanently and securely deleted from WeditVideo's servers 30 days after your event closes. We send reminder emails as your expiry date approaches. Make sure you have downloaded everything before then.

Is our footage safe?

Yes. All footage is stored securely on Cloudflare's global infrastructure. Your clips are private, encrypted in transit, and only accessible through your account or via a link you explicitly share.

What about the 48-hour share links?

When you or a guest shares a clip, a temporary public link is generated that expires after 48 hours. After that the link stops working and the clip is only accessible through your dashboard. You are always in control of what gets shared and for how long.

How much does WeditVideo cost?

Plans start at $29 per event. Essentials is $29 for up to 3 guest recorders. Moments is $49 for up to 5. Full Story is $79 for up to 7. All plans are a one-time payment — no subscription, no recurring fees.

What is the difference between the three plans?

The main difference is how many guests are on your capture team. All plans include the same recording features — short and long clip modes, offline recording, social sharing, real-time dashboard, and 30-day retention. The only difference is 3, 5, or 7 guest recorders.

Can I use WeditVideo for multiple events?

Yes — and this is one of the best things about it. One account covers your entire wedding journey. Add your engagement party, bachelorette, rehearsal dinner, and wedding day all from the same dashboard. You get a discount on your second event and beyond — 10% off your second, 20% off your third and beyond. Or buy a bundle upfront and save even more.

When do I pay?

At signup when you select your plan. You get instant access to your dashboard as soon as your account is created — set up your event, add your guests, and send invites right away.

Can I share dashboard access with my partner or wedding planner?

Yes. WeditVideo has two levels of shared access. An Account Co-owner sees and manages everything across your whole account — perfect for couples planning together or business partners. An Event Co-host manages one specific event — perfect for a wedding planner, coordinator, or videographer who just needs access to that event. You can also promote any guest to dashboard access directly from their guest card in the dashboard.

What can each access level do?

Can a guest view the dashboard?

Yes — any guest can be promoted to dashboard access directly from their guest card. They will be able to view and download clips from their event.

When should I set up my event?

We recommend at least 2 to 3 weeks before your wedding or event. This gives your guests time to receive their invite and know what to expect on the day. If you are using WeditVideo for multiple events, set each one up a few weeks in advance as it approaches.

What do I need to get started?

Create an account, add your event details, and invite your guests by name and email. The whole setup takes under 10 minutes. Once your account is set up, adding additional events takes just a few clicks.

Can WeditVideo be used for events other than weddings?

Yes. WeditVideo was built for weddings and the wedding journey — but the same experience works for birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, corporate events, bar crawls, and more.
